Can Tho hosts Mekong Delta’s Francophone Festival

The Mekong Delta region’s 18th Francophone Festival was kick-started in Can Tho city on March 14, as part of activities to celebrate 45th International Francophonie Day (March 20).

During the two-day event, a seminar on French teaching in the region anda workshop to introduce French learning opportunities in Vietnam andother countries in the Francophone community are scheduled to takeplace.

Ten outstanding students majoring in the French language will be selected for scholarships on this occasion.

According to Anissa Barrak, Asia-Pacific Regional Director of theInternational Organisation of La Francophonie, the Francophone Festivalis held in not only Vietnam but also many other countries over theworld, providing a good chance for French-speaking people to enhancemutual understanding and unity, and uphold the dream of livingpeacefully with respect to cultural diversity and dissimilarities.-VNA
