Canadian businesses seek to invest in Vietnam

The Deputy PM reiterated the statement duringmeetings with representatives from 30 leading Canadianbusinesses in Toronto on December 3 as part of his visit to Canadafrom December 2-4, which aimed to further forge all-aroundcooperation with the country.

He saidin the framework of its open door and international economicintegration policies, the Vietnamese Government always attachesimportance to the legitimate benefit of foreign investors.

Ninh also briefed the enterprises on Vietnam ’s macroeconomicsituation and reviewed the development of bilateral ties between thetwo countries.

Canadian participants said they are seeking toinvest in several fields in Vietnam , such as oil and gas, transportinfrastructure development, healthcare service, insurance, tourism andagriculture.

A number of Canadian enterprises affirmed thatthey will send delegations to Vietnam soon to deploy specificbusiness projects.

At the meeting with President and ChiefExecutive Officer of the Toronto Centre Babak Abbaszadeh, Ninh stressedthat the Vietnamese Government hopes to further develop cooperation withthe centre in the future.

The two sides discussed feasiblecooperation fields and pledged to work closely to build a specificpartnership programme in the coming time.

Abbaszadehunderlined the important role played by the centre in consulting onfinancial management, while revealing its cooperation programme withmany countries in the world, including Southeast Asian nations.

He said his centre appreciates Vietnam ’s position in regionalfinancial markets, affirming that it is ready to establishinternational-funded projects to support Vietnam in enhancing itscapacity in controlling the market and preventing and managing financialrisks.

In the afternoon, the Deputy PM had meetings withseveral intellectuals and overseas Vietnamese businessmen living andworking in Toronto .

Ninh praised contributions to thehomeland made by the Vietnamese community in the city, saying thatoverseas Vietnamese are an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation.He called on them to promote unity to further contribute to thecountry’s socio-economic development.-VNA
