Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Drivers who try to cheat in driving tests or buy fakedriving licences would face a five year driving ban.
TheDirectorate for Roads of Vietnam (DRVN) and the Ministry of Public Security areplanning a crackdown on those selling counterfeit driving licences or provideaudiovisual telecommunication equipment to help drivers pass the tests.
There aremany offers of fake driving licences and health examination reports online. Theillegal activities have been busier especially since the DRVN decidedto increase the number of test questions to 600 from 450, according to LaoDong (Labour) newspaper’s report.
However,the authorities have warned that anyone caught trying to drive with fakedocuments could find themselves banned from the roads for five years. The newrule will start in September.
Thedirectorate has strengthened coordination with media agencies to provideregulations on training drivers and granting driving licences, he said.
Transportdepartments and examination centres in all cities and provinces were asked tomake public the official places for training, registering the tests andrenewing licences.
Thedirectorate has requested transport departments nationwide tostrictly deal with the case that examiners who bring alongtelecommunication equipment in examination rooms to cheat.
Peoplewho want to take part in driving training courses or examinations shouldregister in legal offices to avoid being scammed, the directorate has warned.
Inaddition, the transport departments have to carry out periodical investigationson driving examinations to root out illegal activity.
Thismonth, the directorate will complete the data connection with the TransportPolice Department to track information of granting licences anddrivers.-VNS/VNA
Drivers can send applications for driving licences and receive the licences via post, instead of having to submit the applications personally as at present.
