Chinese scholar commends Vietnamese PM’s role in world economy

Beijing (VNA) – The fact that Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has been invited to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China for two consecutive years demonstrates Vietnam's important role in the forum and the country’s prominent priority in China's foreign policy, held Xu Liping, Director of the Centre of Southeast Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
These fully reflect Vietnam's important leading role in the world economy, he told the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondents in Beijing.
He held that Vietnam is in the development process of the world economy, so to some extent plays a pioneering role, making it fit to the event.
Statistics show that Vietnam's economic growth in 2023 reached 5.5%, and the figure is expected to reach 6%-6.5% in 2024. This economic growth rate is very remarkable, he commented, adding that it is relatively high among emerging Asia's economies, reflecting the potential and economic development of Vietnam in the future, especially amid the current recovering global economic situation.
The growth of Vietnam's economy has created more confidence in the recovery of the world economy, and this is a very important point for Vietnam to be invited to the forum for the second time in a row, Xu said, asserting that this fully reflects the contribution of the Vietnamese economy to the growth of the Asia-Pacific economy and even the world economy.
Commenting on PM Chinh’s speech at the opening of the plenary session of the meeting, the scholar said that it is very rich in content and has many very positive points, certainly creating strong confidence for the business community and political community participating in the forum. The issues raised by the Vietnamese PM reflect the Vietnamese leader's accurate assessments of the development of the world economy.
The three proposals given by PM Chinh, including digital economy development, green economy promotion and human resources development are new breakthrough development steps that Vietnam offers to promote the world growth, he stated.
Xu also highly valued PM Chinh’s three economic recovery measures proposed at the event, especially that in institution building in some emerging economies.
