Deputy head of the Steering Committee for the Southwestern RegionNguyen Phong Quang visited the Bishop’s Office, Cai Rang Grand Seminaryand several churches in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on December 18,wishing the dignitaries and followers a merry Christmas and happy NewYear.

He informed them of the region’ssocio-economic development achievements, which were contributed by localpriests and followers.

The dignitaries expressedtheir delight at the care and support of the steering committee and thecity, committing to calling on parishioners to do more for localsocio-economic development.

The same day,officials from the Steering Committee visited the Long Xuyen Bishop’sOffice and several churches in An Giang province.

Christmas gatherings were also organised in Vinh Long and Long Anprovinces for Catholic and Protestant dignitaries and believers.

Catholicism and Protestantism are two major religions in Vietnam, withnearly 7 million and over 1 million followers, respectively.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
