The close ties between soldiers and people have created internal strength, contributing to victories in the past struggle for national independence and reunification and overcoming difficulties, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has said.

Hanoi (VNA) – The close ties betweensoldiers and people have created internal strength, contributing to victoriesin the past struggle for national independence and reunification and overcomingdifficulties, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Pham MinhChinh has said.

The Government leader made the remarks while addressingan art programme which was held in Hanoi on December 19 night to honourfrontline workers in the pandemic fight, including soldiers.

The event was co-organised by the Central MilitaryCommission, the Ministry of National Defence and Vietnam Television on theoccasion of the 77th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army(December 22) and 32 years of the All-People Defence Festival.

Vietnamese soldiers are working round the clock tosafeguard the country’s waters, air and land, particularly remote, border andisland areas, for peace, wealth and happiness of people, as well as Vietnam’svalues in the international arena, the PM said.

The pandemic would continue to develop complicatedlyin the time ahead, he said, stressing the important role of forces working onthe frontline of the combat, including the army.

Chinh expressed his hope that the army will furtherpromote the close ties to support people in pandemic containment andsocio-economic recovery.

The sentiments between the army and people will beresources, strength, values and an invaluable asset to help the country surpassall difficulties, defeat all enemies, eliminate poverty and cope with naturaldisasters and diseases, thus building a nation of peace, wealth and prosperity,he reiterated.

The programme also featured art performances andstories about the relations between people and soldiers amid COVID-19.

PM Chinh and representatives from the Government,the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, ministries and agenciespresented certificates of merit to collectives and individuals that have madeoutstanding performances in the pandemic combat./.
