Concert celebrates relations with Israel

Two leading singers from Israel and Vietnam, David D’or and Thanh lam, will perform at the Hanoi Opera House on April 11 to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 65th anniversary of Israel’s Independence Day.

They will performwith the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra from the Vietnam National Academy ofMusic and David Eaton - conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of New York.

The concert is considered the biggest event in the series ofactivities to celebrate the 20th year of diplomatic relations betweenVietnam and Israel.

The Israel Embassy has organised anumber of cultural event this year, including Holocaust Day, agastronomy cultural exchange between Vietnam and Israel, and alogo design contest.

According to Minister of the Science andTechnology Nguyen Quan, the activities organised by the embassy are“significant” and will contribute to enhancing friendship andunderstanding between the two peoples.

David D’or is known as asinger, composer and songwriter. A counter-tenor with a vocal range ofmore than four octaves, he is a three-time winner of the Israeli Singerof the Year and Best Vocal Performer awards. He was also chosen torepresent Israel in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest.

American conductor David Eaton has been the music director of the NewYork City Symphony since 1983. He has also been an active composer andarranger, with 49 original compositions and over 600 arrangements andoriginal songs to his credit. He has appeared as a guest conductor withorchestras in Asia, Canada, Israel, Europe, Central and South America,Russia, Ukraine and the US.-VNA
