Concert to celebrate Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic ties

Artists from HBSO will perform the Symphony No.8 ofworld-renowned composer Beethoven and many special works featuring the cultureof Belgium.
Led by Belgian conductor Daniel Gazo, the concert will alsosee the participation of artist Cho Hae Ryong from the Republic of Korea andHoang Ngoc Anh Quan – a solo clarinetist of Vietnam.
Cho will perform the song Lied of Mignon composedby Belgian conductor Lodewijk Mortelmans with lyrics from the poem Mignon,Kennst du das Land (Mignon, Do You Know the Land) by German writer JohannWolfgang von Goethe.
She will then sing twoexcerpts Release and Les Langues de Feu (The Fire ofLanguages) from Cinq Melodies (Five Melodies), Op 57 by Belgiancomposer and music educator Joseph Jongen.
Meanwhile, Quan, a new graduate of Maastricht Academy of Musicin the Netherlands, will present “Introduction, Theme and Variations forthe Clarinet and Orchestra” of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini.
Vietnam and Belgium set up diplomatic ties in 1973. The twocountries have held high-level meetings and visits regularly, while supportingeach other at international forums.
Economic and trade cooperation has played a key role inbilateral ties. In 2017, two-way trade reached nearly 2.5 billion USD. Belgiumis currently running more than 60 projects worth about 600 million USD inVietnam.-VNA
Nguyen Thu Quynh, a fourth-year student in the graphic design department of Hanoi-based University of Industrial Fine Arts, has won the design contest for a logo to celebrate 45 years of Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic relations.
Vietnam- Belgium relations have flourished in many fields in recent years, notably economy. Among EU countries, Belgium is Vietnam’s biggest importer and 7th biggest exporter.
Belgian culture will be brought closer to Hanoians through the event “A Touch of Belgium” to be held by the Belgian Embassy at the Ly Thai To Statue Garden on May 12 to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Members of the Association of Vietnamese Specialists and Scientists (AVSE Global), including many overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in France, met with Vietnamese specialists and businessmen living in Belgium in a Brussels gathering on May 27.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The event served as a vibrant display of solidarity, promoting peace, cooperation, and development through cultural dialogue, and reaffirmed HCM City's role as a dynamic hub for cultural diplomacy and international friendship.
