Congratulations extended to Cambodia on Independence Day

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung led adelegation of the Foreign Ministry to the Embassy of Cambodia in Hanoi onNovember 5 to extend congratulations on the country’s 66th Independence Day.

Talking to Cambodian Ambassador Chay Navuth, who has just started his tenure in Vietnam, Deputy FM Dung saidVietnam is rejoiced at the achievements that Cambodia has made over the past 66years, particularly its impressive economic growth rate in recent years.

He noted that Vietnam-Cambodia ties are making firm progress, withregular exchange of visits and contacts at the high level.

The Deputy FM especially highlighted the official visit by CambodianPrime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Vietnam inearly October, during which the two countries signed two treaties recognizingthe completion of 84 percent of the workload in border demarcation and bordermarker planting along their land border line.

Ambassador Chay Navuth informed his guest that the National Assembly ofCambodia approved the two treaties on November 4.

He pledged to do his best during his tenure to promote the comprehensiveand substantial development of bilateral ties.

The Ambassador took the occasion to affirm Cambodia’s support forVietnam as Chair of the ASEAN in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UNSecurity Council./.
