Congratulations on 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Burundi diplomatic ties
Congratulations have been sent to Burundian leaders on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (April 16, 1975–2025).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese leaders have sent congratulatory messages to their Burundian counterparts on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations (April 16, 1975–2025).
State President Luong Cuong extended congratulations to Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh did the same to Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca. Meanwhile, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed the messages to Speaker of the Senate Emmanuel Sinzohagera and Speaker of the National Assembly Gelase Ndabirabe.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent congratulations to Burundian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation Albert Shingiro./.
Both leaders agreed to continue facilitating the exchange of delegations at all levels and through various channels to bolster political trust and create new momentum.
The Vietnamese and Burundi Presidents agreed to enhance high-level exchanges and strengthen political trust through various channels, as well as to effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
At the invitation of State President Luong Cuong and his spouse, President of Burundi Évariste Ndayishimiye and his spouse make an official visit to Vietnam on April 3-6, 2025. Taking place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, the visit is considered a historic milestone in bilateral relations, and expected to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two sides in all fields.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s working trip conveyed an important message that aligns with the event's theme -the spirit of entrepreneurship for a new era- aiming to maximise international resources in service of national development.
The attendance of the Vietnamese delegation headed by PM Pham Minh Chinh at the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Tianjin carries importance significance, said a researcher on Vietnam.
Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his belief that Australian Ambassador Gillian Bird, with her extensive experience and deep understanding of the region, would make significant contributions to advancing the Vietnam–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while receiving the newly appointed diplomat in Hanoi on June 26.
Speaking to reporters on June 26, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that Vietnam calls all parties involved to seriously comply with the agreement, creating conditions for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
The President also identified certain limitations in advisory work that require continued innovation and quality improvement to meet state leadership requirements.
