Construction of a new stretch of the Da Nang-Quang Ngai highway began in the central city of Da Nang on March 8.
The road is estimated to cost more than 2 trillion VND (94 millionUSD) funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The 8km section starts from Hoa Vang district in the central city ofDa Nang. It will run through National Highway 14B and over sevenbridges. The latest work follows the first phase of the project, whichbegan in November last year.
As part of theNorth-South expressway project, the 1.47 billion USD Da Nang – QuangNgai highway will be nearly 140km in length with four lanes. Itsconstruction is scheduled for completion in 2017.
Once completed and operational, the highway will help effectivelypromote socio-economic development in the central region, particularlyin Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.
It is alsoexpected to facilitate international transport from theVietnam-Laos-Cambodia economic triangle area through the East -WestCorridor to ports in the central area of Vietnam.-VNA
