Hanoi (VNA) -
The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of ForeignAffairs launched a contest on compiling Vietnamese-language books and documentsfor overseas Vietnamese, at a ceremony in Hanoi on September 16.

The contest aims topush ahead with the teaching and learning of the mother tongue among overseasVietnamese, preserving and promoting the language and the country’s culture abroad.

Deputy Minister ofEducation and Training Nguyen Huu Do said the contest seeks contributions from scientists,organisations, and individuals at home and abroad.

It will run fromSeptember to April, with entries being in the form of written or online books,documents, and drafts. Those using information technology are encouraged.

There will be afirst prize of 300 million VND (12,900 USD), two second prizes of 200 millionVND each, and three third prizes of 100 million VND each.

Outstanding submissionswill be printed or digitalised./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
