Cooperation between Vietnamese, Japanese localities facilitated

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam attaches importance to promoting locality cooperationwith Japan, considering this a result-oriented and effective collaborationchannel to step up economic, trade and labour ties as well as people-to-peopleexchange between the two countries, said Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

Ata reception for Governor of Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture Yuji Kuroiwa in Hanoion November 16, Dung suggested the guest encourage Kanagawa businesses to pourmore investments in Vietnamese localities in manufacturing, trade, services,and the agro-forestry-fishery sector.

TheVietnamese Government stands ready to create optimal conditions for Kanagawafirms to operate in Vietnam, he said, calling on the two sides to bolster affiliationin personnel training, tourism and culture, and exchanges between citizens.

Dungsaid the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan are developingfruitfully across fields, with enhanced political trust between senior leadersof the two countries.

Economic,trade and investment cooperation has been seen as a pillar of the bilateralstrategic partnership, he said, adding that Japan is Vietnam’s leading importanteconomic partner, biggest official development assistance (ODA) supplier,second largest investor, third largest tourism market and fourth largest tradepartner.

Besides,exchanges between localities and people of the two countries have beenintensified, contributing to deepening their mutual understanding andfriendship, he said. 

Forhis part, Yuji Kuroiwa said his visit is to organise the first Kanagawafestival in Hanoi from November 16-18 with a range of art and culturalactivities along with investment and tourism promotion conferences, aiming topromote Kanagawa’s image and seek opportunities to expand cooperation in suchareas as health care and human resources development.

Accordingto the Governor, six Vietnamese firms have invested in Kanagawa. Meanwhile, 26Kanagawa enterprises joining the visit want to seek investment opportunities inVietnam.

TheJapanese side will do its utmost to support businesses of the two countries, hepledged.

YujiKuroiwa raised an initiative to organise the Vietnamese festival in Kanagawa in2015 which saw the attendance of General Secretary of the Communist Party ofVietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

The festival was then held annually, attracting hundreds of thousands ofvisitors each year.

Locatedsouth of Tokyo, Kanagawa is one of the five Japanese localities accommodatingthe most Vietnamese who number more than 16,000. It has set up cooperative tieswith many Vietnamese cities and provinces like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, DaNang, Quang Ninh, Can Tho, and Lang Son.-VNA
