COVID-19: 2,828 new cases added to national tally

Vietnam recorded 2,828 new COVID-19 cases on July 18 evening, raising the total number of infections confirmed in the day to 5,926, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 2,828 new COVID-19cases on July 18 evening, raising the total number of infections confirmed in the day to5,926, according to the Ministry of Health.

The new cases logged from 6am to 7h30pm on July 18 included 2,807domestic infections and 21 imported ones.

Among the cases recorded domestically, 2,310 were in Ho Chi MinhCity, 72 in Dong Nai, 65 in Dong Thap, 64 in Binh Duong, 46 in Da Nang, 41 in LongAn, 39 in Phu Yen, 37 in Binh Thuan, 33 in Hanoi, 31 in Khanh Hoa, 14 in CanTho, 13 in Hung Yen, nine in Kien Giang, seven in Binh Phuoc, five in Nghe An, foureach in Quang Ngai and Ninh Thuan, three in Bac Ninh, two each in Binh Dinh andHa Nam, and one each in Lam Dong, Thua Thien Hue, Bac Giang, Soc Trang, Dak Lakand Hai Phong.

Of these, 2,108 cases were detected in locked down areas.

By 6pm on July 18, Vietnam recorded 51,771domestic infections and 2,059 imported ones. The number of infectionsreported since the fourth wave of COVID-19 outbreaks hit Vietnam late Aprilamounted to 50,201, 7,893 of whom have been given the all-clear.

Among the active patients, 267 tested negative forthe coronavirus once, 116 twice and 118 thrice.

As many as 355 patients were given the all-clear on July 18, raising the totalnumber of recoveries to 10,667. Meanwhile, 29 people in HCM City, Long An, BinhDuong, Dong Thap, Bac Giang, Da Nang and Hanoi died of the coronavirus disease fromJuly 4-17.

Twelve localities have gone through two weeks without new infections in thecommunity./.
