Culture-sports-tourism week to open in Hai Phong city

Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee,said on May 7 that the week will take place from May 9-18 with more than30 cultural, sports and tourism events.

The opening ceremonyof the week and the second Red Flamboyant Festival is scheduled for May11 night. Other events will include a Red River Delta tourism fair and agolf tournament in response to the National Tourism Year of Red RiverDelta-Hai Phong 2013, as well as a photo camp themed “Homeland’s Sea andIslands ”.

Eight art troupes from Laos, Japan, Russia,India and the Republic of Korea will join Vietnamese artists toperform during the week.

All the activities will focus on thetopic “Red River Civilisation” with images featuring the cultures,cuisines and heritages of the delta’s 11 localities.

Accordingto the Hai Phong People’s Committee, the city centre now has more than7,800 rooms available for tourists during the occasion.-VNA
