Da Nang (VNA) – The central city of Da Nang is stepping up cooperation with the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s partners across various sectors, emerging as a standout in local-level ties between the two countries.
At the “Meet Korea in Da Nang” conference on August 1, part of the 2025 Vietnam–RoK Festival, city leaders emphasised Da Nang’s strategic role in regional connectivity and its growing appeal to Korean investors and tourists.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Doan Ngoc Hung Anh noted that as of December 2024, Da Nang had 345 Korean-invested projects worth over 1.33 billion USD, mainly in manufacturing and services. The RoK ranked 4th among the 45 countries and territories investing in the city.
Da Nang has established partnerships with eight Korean localities and sees steady growth in cultural, tourism, and education exchanges, and cooperation in smart urban development and green transport.
In the first half of 2025, Da Nang’s exports to the RoK were estimated at 25 million USD, while imports from the country totaled around 36 million USD. Nearly 870,000 Korean tourists visited the city, accounting for 32.7 % of total international arrivals.
With a vision to become a dynamic global city, Da Nang is prioritising digital industries, finance, semiconductors, science, and high-end tourism. The city is also expected to host Vietnam’s first international financial center, further opening doors for global investment.
Minister-Counselor and Consul General of the RoK to Vietnam Chang Ho-Seung praised the city’s progress and growing Korean community presence, expressing hope for deeper cooperation between Da Nang and Korean localities. He affirmed that the RoK Embassy and Consulate General in Da Nang will continue supporting Da Nang’s engagement with Korean partners.
