Hanoi (VNA) –
Minister of NationalDefence Ngo Xuan Lich hosted a reception for outgoing Lao Ambassador to VietnamThongsavanh Phomvihane in Hanoi on September 5.

He congratulated the Lao ambassador onsuccessfully finishing his working tenure in Vietnam, adding that thecooperative relations between the two countries have continued thriving inrecent years with defence partnership being an important pillar.

Based on the implementation of the annualcooperation protocols and plans, the bilateral defence ties have been furtherdeepened in all fields from all-level delegation exchanges, Party building,political work, to security and order maintenance in border areas, and personneltraining, Lich said.

He asked the Vietnamese and Lao defenceministries to strengthen coordination in the coming time to firmly safeguardpolitical security in the respective countries as well as preserve thetraditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

The Lao diplomat spoke highly of Vietnam’sdevelopment and role in the region and beyond. 

He described Vietnam as a source of motivationand importance assistance in the Laos’ development.

He pledged to do his utmost in any new positionto continuously contribute to the reinforcement of the two countries’traditional friendship and special solidarity.-VNA
