Dengue fever cases likely to rise: Health Ministry
Vietnam had reported a total of 65,046 cases of dengue fever nationwide and seven fatalities as of mid-September, revealed the Ministry of Health (MoH) on September 16.

Hanoi (VNA) – 💦Vietnam had reporteda total of 65,046 cases of dengue fever nationwide and seven fatalities as ofmid-September, revealed the Ministry of Health (MoH) on September 16.
The number marks a year-on-year plungeof 65.6 percent. However, it is forecast to increase due to the current rainyseason. The MoH has ordered preventive measuressince the start of the year and asked localities to keep a close watch on the implementationof such measures. It has conducted inspections at high-riskslocalities, held virtual events on the prevention of the disease, and arrangedtraining courses for health workers. The ministry also called on people toclosely follow health regulations, such as covering all water containers andkilling larvae regularly, among others According to the MoH, on average, Vietnamreports more than 100,000 dengue cases yearly. However, the number last year hit 320,331, the highest in the last 32 years, with 53 deaths./.
Laos has recorded 5,781 cases of dengue fever, including 11 deaths, since the beginning of this year, the country’s Ministry of Health said in a press release on September 2.
Dengue fever cases dropped significantly in Vietnam during the first eight months of this year, but the country needed to remain vigilant as there were currently cases in 58 provinces and cities and the risk of a greater outbreak was extremely high, experts have said.
