Dengue fever increases in April

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded nearly 6,900 cases of dengue fever infections inApril, compared to the average figure of 4,000 in the first three months of theyear.

Accordingto the Health Ministry, since the beginning of this year, 20,947 people havecontracted the disease, with eight of them dying.

In Hanoialone, 500 dengue fever cases were reported during the period, up 45 percentfrom last year.

In responseto the development, the municipal Health Department has intensifiedcommunications campaigns on public sanitation and mosquito prevention, whilechemicals to kill mosquitoes have been sprayed in areas at high risk ofoutbreaks.

Dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitoes carrying thevirus. Its symptoms include high fever, headaches and joint aches, which can beconfused with symptoms of other diseases.

The disease haspotentially dangerous complications such as shock, respiratory failure,coagulation, liver damage and altered mental status, and can be fatal.-VNA

Vietnam, France collaღborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
