Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has urged the acceleration of efforts to ensure the timely completion of infrastructure projects serving the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.

In a Government Office notice on the Deputy PM’s conclusions at the June 28 meeting on the implementation of infrastructure projects for APEC 2027, he requested all ministries, sectors, localities, and relevant agencies to review their assigned tasks, identify difficulties and obstacles arising during implementation and the provincial merger process, and seek solutions, ensuring the timely completion of the projects.

Dung emphasised that the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2027 is a major international event receiving close attention and guidance from the Party General Secretary, the Party, the State, and the Government, with support provided through 10 special policies for Kien Giang province (now An Giang province).

Therefore, ministries, sectors, and the People's Committee of An Giang must make greater efforts, while ministers should create favourable conditions and support the southern province in implementing the projects, he stressed.

The provincial People's Committee and relevant ministries were required to submit comprehensive reports on the implementation of projects, works, and related tasks on a monthly basis, clearly identifying roadblocks, and providing recommendations and proposals.

Relevant ministries and sectors must closely monitor and provide guidance, making timely adjustments during the implementation process. The Deputy PM will lead inspection teams to directly oversee and expedite the progress on-site every two to three months.

Regarding specific tasks, Dung requested the provincial People’s Committee to direct the development of a detailed implementation plan and an overall timeline for the projects, and finalise and submit the plan to relevant ministries and agencies for monitoring and report it to the Deputy Prime Minister by July 10, 2025.

For projects where investors have not yet been selected, procedures for investor selection must be urgently completed within this month, especially for essential projects such as water supply plants, wastewater and solid waste treatment facilities, and freshwater reservoirs.

In accelerating progress, special attention should be given to policies that attract investors, he noted, also stressing the importance of ensuring land clearance.

For projects where investors have been selected and those implemented under emergency orders, it is required to urgently complete all necessary procedures to carry out bomb and mine clearance, surveys, and design work, striving to commence construction on all projects simultaneously on August 19, 2025, the Deputy PM added./.

Committee members voiced support for a project on studying the establishment of a public lawyer mechanism in the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam. They said such research will help meet the practical need of protecting State interests, as government agencies and state-owned enterprises are facing growing legal risks related to foreign investment and trade, as well as civil, administrative, financial, asset, and land-related relationships.
