Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has suggested the US-based Business Council for International Understand🌳ing (BCIU) endorse the early ratification and implementation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and help Vietnam carry out the pact effectively.

Minh, who is also Foreign Minister, met with Peter Tichansky, President of the BCIU, in Hanoi on October 20. The BCIU is an organisation that works to expand international trade and commerce. It has 200 member companies, including many Fortune 500 firms.
At the meeting, Tichansky thanked the Deputy PM for his participation and advice on investment in Vietnam at a BCIU roundtable discussion in late September. After giving a brief on his organisation’s future plan, he proposed cooperation projects to promote Vietnam as an investment destination, including co-organising market study trips in Vietnam for US businesses and trade promotion activities during upcoming visits of Vietnamese leaders to the US. He also suggested the organisation of a conference on business competitiveness in Vietnam in 2017. For his part, Minh lauded the cooperation of the BCIU in hosting the roundtable discussion in September.
He welcomed Tichansky’s collaborative suggestions, requesting the BCIU to have detailed discussions with relevant agencies. He said he looks forward to the assistance and participation of US businesses in a range of activities as part of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Da Nang. The Vietnamese Government always facilitates operation of foreign investors, including those from the US, in Vietnam, Minh stated.
Vietnam will support the BCIU in the promotion of international partnerships, Minh said, hoping for more join projects with the organisation to deepen the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership.-VNA
