Deputy PM hosts Minister-President of Germany’s Thüringen state

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai welcomed Minister-President of Thüringen state ofG🔯ermany BodoRamelow🌳 to Vietnam on his second visit following the first one made in 2019,during a reception in Hanoi on November 7.

Deputy PM Khai thanked authoritiesof Thüringen for theirtimely provision of medical supplies to Vietnam during the fight againstCOVID-19. He alsohailed the state for opening a representative office in Hanoi in 2009, noting that there are currently around50 companies from Thüringen involved in various business projects and trainingprogrammes in Vietnam.

Ramelowsaid Thüringen is now home tomore than 4,000 Vietnamese, including over 700 vocational students. He informed the host that he willmeet with parents who are preparing to send their children to study in thestate.

The German official said he is accompanied by a recordnumber of business representatives🍒 during the visit, and he wished to explore opportunitie🎐s for bilateral cooperation,including establishing a vocational training facility in Vietnam and seekingVietnamese partners.

The guest also expressed hopeto intensify collaboration with Vietnam in training, labour and health care.

In reply, Deputy PM Khai wished that the Minister-President would encourage local enterprises to investand do business in Vietnam, and push for the German Parliament’s earlyratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

He suggested that Ramelow promote long-term cooperation mechanisms in vocational training with Vietnam so as tomake it easier for Vietnamese labourers to receive training and find work in Germany. He alsohoped that the state's authorities will continue offering support to the Vietnamese community, thus enabling them to integrate into the host society and making positivecontributions to local socio-economic progress and further bolsteringfriendship between the two countries.

The Vietnamese leader wishedthat Thüringen and the German Government would cooperate with and support Vietnam in terms of finance, technology, human resources training, and experience sharing inbuilding policies for climate change adap𝓀tation and sustainable economicdevelopment, including delivery on commitments made at 26th UnitedNations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 26)./.
