Hanoi (VNA) – A national digital library on explosive ordnance risk education was officially launched on August 9 by the Vietnam National Mine Action Centre (VNMAC) with support from Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Vietnam and the US Department of State.

The free library, at , aims to help with the education on and prevention of bomb and landmine accidents in the country, assist agencies and organisations working on mine action to disseminate information about how to prevent such accidents, and promote safe behaviours among the communities affected by unexploded ordnance (UXO).

With a user-friendly design, vivid graphics, and rich information, it is an online source of useful knowledge about bombs, landmines, and other explosives.

The library features several sections, including a video gallery with documentaries, news bulletins, and animations about UXO; a landmine display room showing 3D and 2D models and real images of nearly 300 types of explosives found nationwide; and an image gallery about mine action and explosive ordnance risk education.

It also displays books and documents, including guidance documents, reports, legal documents on UXO-related education, regulatory documents, and activities of the National Steering Committee on the Settlement of Post-War UXO and Toxic Chemical Consequences (Steering Committee 701).

The National Digital Library on Explosive Ordnance Risk Education is expected to make an important stride in the work, VNMAC Deputy General Director Giang Cong Bau said, adding that VNMAC hopes to receive coordination from relevant agencies and organisations to enrich the library.

The formation of this library is within the project "Towards Sustainable Mine Risk Education for Primary and Secondary School Students", carried out from 2020 to 2024 by the CRS and VNM▨AC with support from the US Department of State. The project looks to help children in UXO-contaminated areas to protect themselves from explosive ordnance ꦜaccidents./.
