Documentary on national sovereignty in East Sea premieres

Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) announced its documentary series on the Vietnamese sea and islands on June 18, demonstrating the country’s national sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

With filmingstarting in 2012 in nine different countries, the five-episodedocumentary series shows the Vietnamese governing process over itsterritories in the East Sea since the feudal age.

It features interviews with international experts and an analysis ofhistorical documents, including the royal history records dating back tothe Le and Nguyen Dynasties, such as a national map drawn in 1838.

HTV Director Nguyen Quy Hoa said the films willbe translated into different languages and may include additionalchapters later on if more documents become available.

The documentary aims to promote Vietnamese sovereignty toVietnamese nationals at home and abroad, as well as internationalviewers.

Each 30-minute episode will be screened on HTV9 at 9 pm, starting on June 20.-VNA
