Dominica wishes to expand ties with Vietnam

A visiting Dominican official has said that his country wants to further promote and expand the traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade and investment.

United Left-wing Movement (MIU) PartyGeneral Secretary cum Minister for Regional Integration Affairs MiguelMejia made the statement while meeting with Le Hong Anh, Politburomember and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)Central Committee’s Secretariat in Hanoi on January 14.

The guest also spoke highly of the socio-economic developmentachievements Vietnam has reaped over the past time as well as thecountry’s position in the region and the world at large.

For his part, Anh applauded the two Parties’ signing of a cooperationagreement, considering it an important foundation for them to deepentheir cooperation in the time ahead.

He expressedhis belief that with the Government’s efforts and the support ofpolitical parties, including the MIU Party, the Dominican people willharvest great socio-economic development achievements, contributing toimproving the country’s position in Latin America and the world.

Earlier, the Dominican delegation held talks with a CPV delegation ledby Hoang Binh Quan, head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission forExternal Relations.

The two sides discussedmeasures to continue effectively implementing the contents of theagreement, contributing to furthering relations between the two Partiesand the two countries in general. They also talked about regional andinternational issues of common concern.

During itsvisit, the MIU delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at hismausoleum and had working sessions with several agencies and economicgroups in Hanoi.-VNA
