Dong Nai assists local exporters in accessing US market
The southern province of Dong Nai has launched a number of activities to assist local enterprises in expanding export market, especially to the US, in a bid to increase the province’s export turnover by at least 10 percent over last year.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, ViceChairman of the Dong Nai Import-Export Association, this year, the USremains one of the largest markets of Dong Nai’s products.
In 2013, exports to the US market hit 3.17 billion USD,accounting for about 30 percent of the provincial’s total revenue.
He advised local enterprises to pay special attention to technicalbarriers in the US market, as from 2014, all disqualified exports to theUS will no longer be allowed to be re-exported but forced to bedestroyed.
The provincial Department of Industry andTrade reported that many local businesses have received enough ordersfrom the US to ensure full operation until the end of the secondquarter.
Key hard currency earners of Dong Naiinclude garment and textile, footwear, wood products and agriculturalproducts, it said.
The department’s head, Le VanDanh, said he believes local exporters will enjoy more opportunities inthe US market this year, based on forecast of higher growth of the USeconomy and hopes that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement canbe concluded later this year.
He said thedepartment recently met with the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnamto discuss ways to establish links between US partners and Dong Naibusinesses.
At the same time, the department has aplan to collaborate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade inorganising workshops on the TPP and Free Trade Agreements Vietnam hassigned for exporters in the province.
According toDanh, the provincial authorities will keep close contact with businessesto give them timely support in overcoming obstacles and updatedinformation on local import-export situation and credit packages.
