He made the remarksat a conference to review the management of local monitoring systems in the southernprovince of Dong Nai.
According to theprovincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, industries in theprovince discharge more than 300,000 cu m of wastewater per day.
Dong Nai has 26 automaticmonitoring systems at local industrial parks and businesses that produce alarge amount of wastewater. Data collected from the systems every 5-10 minutes issent to a control centre at the department.
The monitoringsystems have helped the province monitor the sources of wastewater, Chanh said,adding that pollution hotspots like the Thi Vai River and the lower section ofthe Dong Nai River have become safer.
About ten firms thatdischarge more than 1,000 cu m of wastewater per day had not yet installed awastewater monitoring system by the end of May, he noted, requesting thesecompanies fulfill the obligation before September 30.-VNA
