Hanoi  (VNA) – A 6.5 magnitude earthquake shocked west Indonesia on the morning of June 2, killi🧸ng one person and injuring 14 others. The quake also damaged several houses but no t✱sunami warning has been issued..

Head of the West Sumatra Disaster Management Agency Zulfiatno said that the injured people are receiving emergency treatment at hospital, some of them are seriously injured.
The quake struck at about 5:56 am (local time) with the epicenter detected at a depth of 72 km. Moderate to strong shocks were recorded in Bengkulu province. Indonesia lies in the “Pacific Ring of Fire” where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. In 2009, about 1,000 people were killed in a 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck Bengkulu province.
Meanwhile, at least 13 people have been killed and 105 others were injured by a powerful windstorm that swept through Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The capital city of Islamabad and Rawalpindi city were the most effected areas.-VNA
