Eight women win Mekong Entrepreneur Awards

Eight female entrepreneurs of Vietnam have just been presented the Mekong Women's Entrepreneurship Challenge Awards by the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

According to Dien dan Doanh nghiep (BusinessForum) magazine, the prizes, worth 2,000 USD each, were awarded to thewomen entrepreneurs in acknowledgement of their success in business andtheir application of initiatives and advanced technology in productionto increase productivity.

Two special awards including a 7,000USD trip each to attend the 5th Global Forum on Innovation andEntrepreneurship in South Africa , were granted to Dang Thi ThanhVan, Director of the Savycom JSC and Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, GeneralDirector of Vinastone Joint Venture Company.

The Mekong Women'sEntrepreneurship Challenge Awards organised by the Emerging MarketsConsulting Organisation (EMCO) aims at encouraging initiatives andgrowth in women-owned enterprises in the Mekong region.

Theaward has been carried out in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. InVietnam, the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council was chosen tointroduce this programme to women entrepreneurs.

Also at theaward ceremony, the “Women’s Creative Day 2013” programme was launchedby the World Bank to encourage Vietnamese women in enhancing economiccapacity.-VNA
