Eighteen national treasures exhibited for first time

As many as 18 national treasures of Vietnam are being exhibited for the first time at the Vietnam National Museum of History from January 10 to May 2017.

Hanoi (VNA) ꩵ– As many as 18 national treasures of Vietnam are beingexhibited for the first time at the Vietnam National Museum of History fromJanuary 10 to May 2017.

Amongthe displayed are two freshly recognised in December 2016. They are the goldenseal of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu, made in 1709, and Thong gom hoa nau (a ceramicjar with brown colored glaze patterns) from the 13th to 14th century which wasdiscovered in the northern province of Nam Dinh in 1972. Othernational treasures include Ngoc Lu and Hoang Ha bronze drums of the Dong Sonculture, the Dao Thinh glazed terra-cotta jar, a statue depicting two menplaying panpipes, a lamp in the form of a kneeling person, a boat tomb, the VoCanh stele, the bell at Van Ban Pagoda, among others. Theexhibition also showcases important historical works such as Nhat ky trong tu (ThePrison Diary), Duong Kach Menh (Revolutionary Path) and the manuscripts of theCall for National Resistance by President Ho Chi Minh. Theexhibition is hoped to help visitors get a systematic understanding of thehistorical and cultural values of the national treasures as well as the skilfulnessof Vietnamese artists, thus encouraging patriotism and raising the sense ofresponsibility of the people for preserving Vietnamese culture. Onthe occasion, the Vietnam National Museum of History received a model of 5.75mlong and 3.47m tall of the cannon made by villagers in Dong Ky of the northernprovince of Bac Ninh.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
