Ethnic minority women play role in MDGs fulfilment

The UNDP Administrator made the remark at aseminar on women of ethnic minority groups and development issues inHanoi, adding that Vietnam still needs a concrete action plan toaccelerate the implementation process of the goals’ with a clearroadmap.

She said the voice and knowledge of ethnicminority women play an important role in accelerating thisimplementation process as well as in working out development agendaafter 2015.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairwoman ofthe National Assembly Tong Thi Phong affirmed that Vietnam has beenactive in boosting gender equality by including it in a number of lawssuch as the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies, Law on GenderEquality, and Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control.

The country has also ratified the UN Convention on the Elimination ofall Forms of Discrimination against Women and bought in into domesticlegal framework.

She stressed that ethnic minoritywomen have been involving in all fields of socio-economic life fromeducation, healthcare to production.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
