The ethnic work isalways considered as a vital part of the national socio-economicdevelopment strategy, which could help improve the living conditions ofover 12 million people from ethnic minority groups throughout thecountry.
The lives of ethnic minorities in the two regions havebeen better with the proportion of poor households reducing 4 percentannually over the past three years, especially after the Government’sDecree 05 on Ethnic Work was put into life.
The central andCentral Highlands regions have received due attention of the Party andState and benefited from important policies and programmes on housingand farming land and clean water.
New socio-economicinfrastructural facilities in rural and remote areas were built,contributing importantly to socio-economic development in the regions.
Despite these improvements, socio-economic developmentlevels in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas in the tworegions remain low. Many ethnic minority people have yet to settle inand those residing in mountainous areas are coping with numeroussetbacks spiritually and materially, the conference heard.-VNA
The forum also served as an occasion to celebrate national cultural values, review efforts to teach and promote the Vietnamese language within the Vietnamese community in Japan, encourage scientific and technological collaboration, and highlight the resilience and global integration of Vietnam’s younger generation, full of ambition to progress.
