EU clean technology firms eye Vietnamese market

A workshop was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 19 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the EU Business Avenues, focusing on potential opportunities for companies from the European Union to invest in clean technology in Vietnam.

The event wasattended by representatives from over 30 European firms specialising inair pollution control, energy conservation and management and water andwaste treatment. The firms are currently visiting Vietnam to seekbusiness opportunities.

Nicholas Merriman, Marketing Director ofthe ANDRITZ Group that operates in air pollution control, shared thathis firm wants to establish a partnership with Vietnamese businesses andimplement long-term projects in the nation.

According to EUBusiness Avenues, the trip aims to promote the transfer of cleantechnology and environmentally-friendly measures to developing countriesin Southeast Asia .

By accessing clean technologies providedby leading EU companies, Vietnam will be able to create a basicfoundation for promoting the country’s sustainable growth in the future.

Vietnam has become an important partner to the EU withtrade hitting 28 billion EUR in 2014. EU companies are also majorforeign direct investors in Vietnam and are currently operatingaround 1,810 projects.-VNA

Vietnam’s durian exports rebound strongly

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in May, June, and July, the country exported 7,745 batches of fresh durians totaling over 207,000 tonnes, more than 10 times higher than in the first four months of the year, as well as 560 batches of frozen durians weighing nearly 16,000 tonnes, up almost 64.3%.
