European Parliament assesses Vietnam’s readiness for FTA

The European Parliament has assessed Vietnam’s level of readiness to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union (EU), Chairman of the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee Bernd Lange told a press conference in Hanoi on April 8.

As acontinuous process that requires efforts of both sides, the FTA talksbetween Vietnam and the European Union is now in the final stage andwill last through this June, he said, noting that the 12th negotiationround, the latest one, concluded this March.

Vietnam and the EU started FTA talks in June 2012, with the latter being the second largest trade partner of Vietnam.

The Southeast Asian country, meanwhile, is the 32nd largest tradepartner of the bloc with garment as the most competitive export item.

While in Vietnam from April 6-9, the EuropeanParliament delegation will hold a working session with Chairman of theHo Chi Minh City People’s Committee and tour two factories, including anEuropean automobile assembly line.-VNA

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels.
