Hanoi (VNA)♔ - A travelling exhibition featuring Japanese pottery will be held at the Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts in Hanoi from November 18.

The event titled “Japanese Pottery: The Rising Generation from Traditional Japanese Kilns” will run until December 4 at the museum located on 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc street.

It is organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam.

The show introduces the works of a total of 35 artists active in seven major traditional kiln sites in Japan. They differ in orientation, including some who carry on a long tradition of pottery production while pursuing ever-richer standards in their craft and others who seek to create individualistic works exploring new forms.

Japan has traditionally produced a large amount of ceramic works. The exhibition introduces outstanding works by young artists who are carrying on the kiln tradition in areas with distinctive styles, such as Arita, Karatsu, Hagi and Bizen, as well as Kyoto, Kutani, Seto, Mino and Mashiko.

All the artists show immense potential and will be leaders of the next generation of ceramic art in Japan.

The theme of the exhibition this time focuses on "vessels", endeavoring to show how ceramic artists understand the function of vessels, making it easier to understand the present and the future of Japanese pottery.

𒁃 Previously, this exhibition was held in HCM City in October and in other countries, including Brazil, New Zealand, Uruguay and Argentina.-VNA

ℱ Indian writer captivated by Vietnam’s Cham culture

Taking a journey to the Cham Museum — the modest building in Phan Rang –Thap Cham, Indian writer Ankita Mahabir said that the museum might not boast size but it brims with pride for the local community, featuring carefully preserved sandstone sculptures, portraits, and rare artifacts.

For years, the Vietnamese community in many countries rarely had the chance to experience Vietnam’s traditional arts and culture actitivies organized by the Vietnam government, except the annual event “Vietnam Day Abroad” that has been organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010. But the year 2024 marked a turning point.

In the context of international integration and globalisation, culture and art education plays a vital role in promoting the all-round development of Vietnam's young generation.
