The world football governing body FIFA has recognised the Vietnam national football team’s undefeated streak on its website.

Hanoi (VNA) – The world football governing body FIFA has recognised theVietnam national football team’s undefeated streak on its website.

The FIFA writes: “18 games unbeaten is the national record run on which Vietnamwill begin the AFC Asian Cup. The Golden Dragons were 130th on theFIFA World Ranking in September 2017, but have just won the AFF Cup andfinished a calendar year in the top 100 for the first time in 2012.”

Theteam’s last defeat was a 1-2 loss to Indonesia in the AFF Cup semifinals in2016.

Theyovertook World Cup winners France to become the international side with thelongest running unbeaten streak – 16 games – after winning against Malaysia bya score of 1-0 in the second leg of the AFF Cup final on December 15.

Duringtheir preparation for the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in the United Arab Emirates, theVietnamese team drew 1-1 with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea andbeat the Philippines 4-2 in friendly matches.-VNA
