FIFA, UEFA help Thua Thien-Hue develop community-based football

The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have provided over 1.8 billion VND (79,000 USD) for the central province of Thua Thien-Hue to develop a community-based football project.

Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA)and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have provided over 1.8billion VND (79,000 USD) for the central province of Thua Thien-Hue to developa community-based football project.

The project wassponsored via the management board of Norway’s Football for All in Vietnam(FFAV).

The project will becarried out within two years (2017-2018) with a view to increasing physicalability and life skills for children, especially those living in the resettledareas and social protection centres.

It also looks to improvethe local capacity to organise football activities and promote gender equalityand soft skills for girls.

The project will helpestablish seven football clubs while maintaining 20 existing ones, upgradingplaygrounds, and hosting football competitions in combination with life skilleducation in wards and communes.

Over the past fewyears, the Norwegian Football Federation (NEF) and its FFAV management boardhave actively supported community-based football activities in Thua Thien-Hueprovince.

The NEF has carriedout many projects in the province, benefiting over 16,000 local children.

Particularly, it hasbeen seeking financial support from FIFA and UEFA to help poor children andthose with disabilities join football activities.-VNA
