Film fest aims to boost local cinematography

The 17 th Vietnam Film Festival will take place in the central province of Phu Yen from Dec. 15-17.

The festival, the biggest of its kind so far, is expected to attract108 films ranging from feature films, documentaries and scientific filmsto cartoons.

In addition to honouring excellentcinematic works and artists who have registered outstanding achievementssince the 16 th event, the festival will publicise the latestVietnamese movies and provide opportunities for actors and filmmakers tomeet with audiences and inquire their demands.

The event will also offer an opportunity for industry insiders todiscuss measures to improve their profession, promoting the developmentand prestige of the Vietnamese film industry.

According to Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Vice Director of the CinematographyDepartment under the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Tourism, the annualevent also marks four decades of the Vietnam Film Festival (1971-2011).

It is also one of special cultural activities inresponse to the National Tourism Year 2011 in the southern centralcoastal province - Phu Yen and the 400 th founding anniversary of PhuYen province, she said.

During the festival, anexhibition entitled “Four decades of the Vietnam Film Festival” and a “Vietnam cinematography – real situation and solutions” talks will beheld along with exchanges between artists and Phu Yen audience./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
