First Vietnam university opens int’l cooperation office in Japan

The Hanoi-based Foreign Trade University (FTU) inaugurated an office for international cooperation in Japan on November 14, the first of its kind set up by a Vietnamese university in the country.

Tokyo (VNA) – The Hanoi-basedForeign Trade University (FTU) inaugurated an office for internationalcooperation in Japan on November 14, the first of its kind set up by aVietnamese university in the northeast Asian country.

The inauguration is part of cooperation betweenthe FTU and the Minami Fuji Co. Ltd (MF).

In their speeches, FTU Rector Bui Anh Tuan andMF Chairman Sugiyama reviewed the two sides’ cooperation since 2014 via theGlobal Management College (GMC) programme, which provides high-level humanresources training for companies around the world. The GMC has invited famousspeakers to talk to FTU lecturers and students and Vietnamese firms about businesspractice and economic development prospects.

MF has also assisted the FTU in encouragingstartup ideas and projects of its students, they said, adding that the openingof the FTU’s international cooperation office in Japan marks a new stride inbilateral cooperation.

The office aims to popularise the FTU’s imagesamong Japanese universities, businesses and organisations and connect the FTUwith universities in Japan to attract Japanese students to the FTU. 

The office will also organise student and lecturerexchanges, promote the GMC’s activities, and help Japanese and Vietnameseenterprises to expand operations in the two countries.

Nguyen Truong Son, envoy of the VietnameseEmbassy in Japan, said the office is the first international cooperation officeof a Vietnamese university in Japan. He expressed his hope that the officeinauguration is an example for the FTU and other universities in Vietnam intheir integration into the world, thus creating new opportunities for tertiaryeducation development.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
