Hanoi (VNA) - The Dien Bien Phu Victory awakened the national liberation movement all over the world, consolidating the will🌟 and trustꦛ of toiling people.

Taking advantage of the time when colonialist and imperialist forces were bogged in the Dien Bien valley, colonialised nations in the world rose up and won victory. That is why President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that the Dien Bien Phu Victory is agreat achievement of the Vietnamese people, and a common victory of all the oppressed nations in the world. Less than six months after the victory, the order by the Algerian National Liberation Front on the uprising was issued on November 1, 1954. Guerilla forces synchronously attacked French offices and military targets. The struggle by the Algerian people forced the French government to recognise Algeria’s independence and territorial integrity, putting an end to the 132-year domination by France. Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam Abdelhamid Boubazine (2021-2024 tenure) affirmed the Dien Bien Phu Victory had a decisive impact on the liberation struggles of colonialised nations, especially the nationalist movement in Algeria.
In his opinion, along with President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap is a key mastermind of warfare that utilises all citizens to yield the Dien Bien Phu Victory. In Algeria, there are two boulevards named after President Ho Chi Minh, one in the capital Algiers and the other in Oran – the country’s second biggest city. The Algerian people admire and respect Vietnam, the ambassador said, adding the glorious past of the Vietnamese nation is now very popular in the African country. The diplomat said he often followed news on the anti-American war in Vietnam, and has visited Dien Bien Phu twice since he took his office in Vietnam. In 1950, France forced many Moroccan youths to join its army and serve in the battlefields in Vietnam in preparation for the Dien Bien Phu battle in 1954. However, the country, people, and the fight for justice of Vietnammade them refuse to point their guns at the Vietnamese, who were like brothers back in Morocco.
Moroccan Ambassador to Vietnam Jamale Chouaibi affirmed the two countries have a common foe: the colonialist administration. That is why the Dien Bien Phu Victory served as a great encouragement to the brave Moroccan people to fight foreign domination to defend their national independence and freedom. The diplomat mentioned Mohamed Ben Aomar Lahrech, an important member of the Moroccan Communist Party who became a bridge between the Moroccan resistance war and Vietnam. Following the ceasefire order in 1954, many North African soldiers who deserted the French army rank built their own village at the foot of Ba Vi mountain under the direction by Mohamed. They built the Morocco Gate as a symbol of the Morocco-Vietnam friendship. Ambassador Jamale Chouaibsaid that the victory as well as Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and freedom is still significant today, especially in the current context of the world. For her part, South African Ambassador to Vietnam Vuyiswa Tulelo said she could feel the joyful atmosphere not only in Vietnam but also in African, Asian, and South American countries. She said that the defeat of the French colonialist forces in Vietnam created a chance for African countries to rise up for their independence. For South Africa, leaders of the African National Congress contacted representatives of the government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Bangdung (Indonesia) in 1955. Vietnam shared its experiences with the South African side in the struggle for national independence.
Vietnam still manifests its determination to maintain peace in the country, the region and the world through taking an active part in UN peacekeeping missions, she said, calling on the international community to learn from the country in promoting global peace efforts./.
