Flag pole inaugurated in island off Binh Dinh province

A 22.66m flagpole was inaugurated in Cu Lao Xanh Island, in Nhon Chau commune, Quy Nhon city, central Binh Dinh province, followed by a flag raising ceremony on October 31.
A 22.66m flagpole was inaugurated in Cu Lao Xanh Island, in Nhon Chaucommune, Quy Nhon city, central Binh Dinh province, followed by a flagraising ceremony on October 31.

The flagpole, first of itskind in near-shore islands along the country, was built throughcooperation between the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union CentralCommittee and the Vietnamese Students’ Association.

Speaking atthe event, Le Quoc Phong, Secretary of Communist Youth Union CentralCommittee and Chairman of the Vietnamese Students’ Associationhighlighted that the flag pole is contributed to affirm the nation’ssacred sovereignty over seas and islands and offers a new attraction fortourism.

Its construction was funded by the Bank forInvestment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) with a total investment of1.2 billion VND (nearly 56,500 USD).

Cu Lao Xanh island, alsoknown as Nhon Chau, is about 12 nautical miles from Quy Nhon city, with apopulation of over 2,100 people.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
