Vietnam is striving to earn atleast 12 billion USD from exporting footwear and bags this year.
In 2013, Vietnam’s total export turnover of these products hit 10.32billion USD, up 18 percent from the previous year. Of this figure, 1.92billion USD came from the export of bags and suitcases, a year-on-yearrise of 26 percent.
The European Union market accounted for 33.1 percent of the leather and footwear sector’s total export turnover.
Meanwhile, the US remained the key importer of Vietnamese footwear.Vietnam now ranks second among shoe exporters to this market, followingChina.
Currently, about 1,100 enterprises areinvolved in footwear production in Vietnam. They have employed 720,000workers.
