HCM City (VNA) - Fulbright Everest Launchpad, a free English teachingprogramme for 40 11th and 12th graders around the country started onJuly 3.

The programme includes eight weeks of learning English in HCM City and online.

The cost of 65 million VND (2,850 USD) per student to travel, stay in the cityand learn is provided by Fulbright University Vietnam, thanks to a donation byJack Tate, founder of the Baby Superstores chain in the US.

The programme is designed by Fulbright University Vietnam in cooperation with alocal social enterprise, Everest Education, to personalise learning.

The 40 students, chosen from among 1,215 candidates, have to use English fordaily communication.

Chu Hoai Ngoc from the northern province of Thai Nguyen, one of the 40students, said the programme would help her improve her English skills andcommunication.

Nguyen Minh Nguyet from another northern province, Bac Ninh, said soft skillswould also be improved.

Moreover, she would be making friends with others from across the country, she said.-VNA
