More than 1,000 people sought information and looked for opportunities at a German work fair held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 24. The fair opened up 500 vacancies from over 30 German companies, including Bosch and Siemens.
Competency tests and interview tips were provided as highlights of the day. According to Jens Ruebbert, Chairman of the German Business Association (GBA), the event was held for the first time in Vietnam, aiming to create employment opportunities for local people, especially students. German firms are eyeing cooperation with their Vietnamese peers in green technology, human resources, and health, said Ruebbert.
Bosch Vietnam Director Vo Quang Hue noted the event, which forms a connection between recruiters and job-seekers, reflects increasing interests of the Germany’s business community in Vietnam towards the domestic workforce. A GBA survey conducted in the beginning of the third quarter revealed that almost 50 percent of polled members shared their demand for Vietnamese interns through 2017 as well as for young and highly competent local staff. Germany is now one of the main strategic partners of Vietnam in the European Union (EU). It is also Vietnam’s largest trade partner in the EU with bilateral trade hitting 4 billion USD in the first two quarters of this year.-VNA
