Gia Lai (VNA) ♊- The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai aims to achieve 850 million USD in exports in 2025.
To that end, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has outlined strategic measures, including promoting trade through fairs and exhibitions in potential markets and improving industrial infrastructure.
The province is also accelerating digital technology adoption and administrative reforms to enhance global market integration for local businesses.
Renewable energy development is a key focus, aimed at reducing production costs and increasing competitiveness. Gia Lai is also advancing projects under Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan VIII, approved in May 2023.
Director of Gia Lai’s Department of Industry and Trade Pham Van Binh pledged support and the best possible conditions for businesses so that the province will not only reach 850 million USD in exports but also surpass that target in 2025.
Noting the province’s shift toward green and sustainable agriculture to raise the value of its strong agricultural products, he said coffee remains a standout product, with exports hitting 210,000 tonnes worth 640 million USD, rising 30.61% and accounting for 80% of the province's total export turnover.
Other significant contributors include rubber latex with 1.25 million USD and wood products with 2.25 million USD.
Vinh Hiep Co. Ltd, a leading coffee exporter, represents 63% of Gia Lai’s coffee exports and 10% of Vietnam’s total. Its products have entered nearly 60 countries and top international roasters, said Chairman and Director of the company Thai Nhu Hiep.
In 2024, Gia Lai recorded export turnover of 820 million USD, up over 20% year-on-year, alongside steady growth in industrial production and retail revenue. With focused strategies, the province anticipates a pivotal year in 2025, solidifying its position in Vietnam’s export landscape and supporting local sustainable development./.
