Hai Duong ships first batch of litchi to Singapore, US, Australia

A ceremony was held in the northern province of Hai Duong on May 25 to launch a litchi harvest programme for export and mark the shipment of the first batch of litchi to Singapore, the US and Australia this year.

Hai Duong (VNA) – A ceremony was held in the northern province of HaiDuong on May 25 to launch a litchi harvest programme for export and mark theshipment of the first batch of litchi to Singapore, the US and Australia thisyear.

Particularly, AmeiiVietnam JSC exported the first container of litchi to Singapore while Rong Doproduction, trade and services Co. Ltd also shipped the first batch toAustralia and the US.

Earlier, Minister ofAgriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong visited a litchicultivation zone in Thanh Son commune which is granted code to export to Japan, andAmeii Vientam farm produce processing plant in Thanh Xa commune, Thanh Ha district.

During the 2020 crop,the total litchi production is expected to near 230,000 tonnes.

Hai Duong is now home to 9,700ha of litchi cultivation, mostly in Thanh Hadistrict with about 3,600ha and Chi Linh city with 3,900ha. The total litchioutput is estimated at 45,000 tonnes this year. The early lychee harvest is estimated to beไ 20,000 tonnes and the maꦏin crop is about 25,000 tonnes./.
