HCM City (VNA) - Dinner In The Sky, a slightly bizarre concept that has caught on in 45 countries – 22 guests are hoisted in the air along with the banquet table and their chairs by a crane to dine 60 metres up i𓆏n the air – has made its way to Vietnam.

The Belgium-based Events In The Sky said it would organize its first Dinner In The Sky in HCM City early in the coming Lunar New Year, which this year begins on February 8. Guests will enjoy views overlooking the Saigon river and the city.
Forty four guests per day – in two batches – each strapped into their seats, will feast on amuse bouche crab meat with Bloody Mary jelly and avocado mousse; pho with poached foie gras and Vietnamese herbal wine; lobster ravioli with tomato marmalade, pan fried venison fillet, beetroots and maturini sauce; artisan cheese platter with condiments; and chocolate and caramel. The menu is designed by award winning Chef Sakal, executive chef at Sofitel Saigon Plaza. He uses Vietnamese crab and French Atlantic oysters to combine to a tartar and finish the dish with coriander and avocado from Da Lat. Pho is probably the most famous Vietnamese dish around the world, but some French chefs suggest its name may derives from "Pot au feu", a traditional French beef stew.
"To put a French twist on this dish, I use foie gras instead of beef or chicken," Sakal said. Steve Chung, Business Director of Events In The Sky, said, ‘"The appeal of Events In The Sky is pretty universal, it takes you somewhere you've never been before, 20 stories above the ground, without any physical barrier between you and the world. "Unlike looking out of the window of a plane or enjoying the view from a high rise roof top, you are not cocooned or anchored in place, you are floating in mid-air. It's quite liberating." Events In The Sky has attracted royalty, heads of state, billionaire businesspersons, sports stars, rock legends and Hollywood actors.
