Hanoi ancient French villa collapse: one reported dead (Update)

One of the five injured in the collapse of an ancient French villa in downtown Hanoi on September 22 afternoon was reported dead shortly after being hospitalised.

One of the five injured in the collapse of an ancient French villa in downtown Hanoi on September 22 afternoon was reported dead shortly after being hospitalised, according to Viet Duc Hospital. Le Thi Huong, 46, who was a vegetable saleswoman on the first floor of the villa, died of serious injury sustained in the accident, revealed the hospital.
The other four victims requiring hospitalisation, one man and three women, are continuing to receive emergency care.

The two-storey villa, located at No. 107 Tran Hung Dao street, Hoan Kiem district, is currently managed by the Zone 1 Railway Project Management Board.
It was accommodating about 20 people at the time of the incident at 12:50 pm. One woman is still believed to be trapped in the rubble.

Rescue efforts are continuing by municipal forces while traffic surrounding the site is being closely controlled by the police. Power supply to the villa has been cut.

According to statistics, Hanoi has 1,586 ancient French villas, including 562💯 private-owned ones, 1,02𓆏4 State-owned ones.-VNA
