The Hanoi People's Committee has honoured 36 local craftsmen for preserving traditional handicrafts.

Thespecialists in wood and bronze carving, pottery and porcelain making,lacquer, silk weaving and making three-string plucked lutes, among othercrafts, were given the title "Hanoi Artisan".

The oldestartisan is sculptor Do Danh Chung, born in 1933 at Ngoc Hiep commune,Quoc Oai district, while the youngest is gold leaf laminator Le Ba Tuoi,a 28-year-old resident of Kieu Ky commune, Gia Lam district.

Sixare among 16 craftsmen nationwide who received a certificate of skilledcraftsmanship from President Truong Tan Sang in 2013.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
