A house in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from August 23 to 25, 1945 has been recognised as a national historical relic site by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Hanoi (VNA) – A housein Hanoi’s Tay Ho district where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked fromAugust 23 to 25, 1945 has been recognised as a national historical relic siteby the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The house of Nguyen Thi An,located in Phu Thuong ward of Tay Ho district, was the first stop of PresidentHo Chi Minh on his trip from the Viet Bac resistance base back to Hanoi from August23, 1945 to read the Declaration of Independence marking the foundation of theDemocratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, onSeptember 2 the same year.

Nguyen Thi An was the wife ofCong Ngoc Lam, who served as chief of a “tong” (an administrative unit higherthan a commune and lower than a district in the past) in Phu Gia hamlet of PhuThuong commune, Tu Liem district (now Phu Thuong ward of Tay Ho district).

This area was part of theParty Central Committee’s revolutionary base from 1941 to 1945. Local residentssupported and protected many senior Party officials such as Truong Chinh, HoangVan Thu, Le Duc Tho, and Hoang Tung.

The house of Nguyen Thi An remainintact nowadays and is currently watched by her paternal grandson Cong Ngoc Dung.

With 14 objects and tens ofdocuments and images related to the late President’s stay, the house wasrecongised as a memorial house of Ho Chi Minh and has been opened to visitors since1996.

In 2019, it was listed as amunicipal-level historical relic site./.
